PHRASAL VERBS EXERCISES

PHRASAL VERBS consist of a main verb plus a preposition or an adverb.

1- turn [something ] on – cause  ( a TV, a stereo, etc) to start working.
2-turn [something ] off – cause (a TV, a computer, a stereo) to stop working.
3- turn [ something ] down – reduce (the sound, heat etc) of an appliance (a TV, heater etc).
4-turn [something ] up – increase (the sound, heat etc) of an appliance (a stereo, a heater).
5-pick [something ] up – 1- use your hand(s) to take hold of something and lift it./ 2- go and    fetch [something, someone] from the place where they are waiting to be collected.
6-fill [something ] up – fill your car petrol tank with (petrol, gas, fuel).
7- drop [something ] off – leave (something) (somewhere)
8-put [something ] on – put clothes on your body.
9- look [something ] up – look for information in  books or other printed material where it may be found.
10- try [something ] on – put on a piece of clothing to find out if it fits or if you like it.
11-put [something ] away – put something where it´s usually kept.
12-clean [something ] up – make a place completely clean and tidy.
13-take [something ] back – take something you have bought back to a shop because it is not suitable.

1) Fill in the blanks with the appropriate phrasal verb according to each meaning above:

2-Use the correct DIRECT OBJECT PRONOUN [me, you, him, her, it, us, them] to replace the underlined words with the phrasal verb indicated in the second part of the sentence.

b-Someone smashed into the trunk of my car. I´ll have to [drop off]…………………….at the garage to be repaired.
